5th graders are using 2 artists as inspiration for this project: Guiseppe Arcimboldo and Cheeming Boey. Boey is an artist from Malaysia who started drawing with sharpie on white coffee cups. Students are using the inspiration of Guiseppe Arcimboldo to help them combine lots of different lines and patterns into a specific subject. Arcimboldo used ordinary things to fill portraits and make them extraordinary. Students have been drawing animals, birds or insects. After drawing the subject large, they are filling it with creative lines and patterns using sharpie markers.
