Kindergarten artists were inspired by the artist Henri Matisse. Later in life, he created many artworks by cutting and arranging colored paper in creative ways. Students cut larger shapes and then layered small shapes of cut paper on top to make a picture. Here are a few examples of student art!

1st grade artists have been working with shapes and lines to create different patterns. We learned about the artist Gustav Klimt and the repetition and pattern he uses in his paintings. Students practiced to make their own unique patterns.
2nd graders are inspired by the influential artist Walt Disney. They looked at his start in drawing animals and how he created an animation company, made animations and then later built the Disneyland theme park. Walt Disney showed commitment in creating his first full-length animation because it took 3 years to make. He also was a risk-taker in creating a theme park that was so different and new. His dream was to bring people together and make people happy. 3rd graders have been working with yarn to create the tree branches and trunk. This week we started weaving to make the leaves.
Here are some of the final prints from the 5th grade class. They really enjoyed the process of making a foam design and printing with ink.
The 4th graders finished their kaleidoscope paper designs this past week. They did a great job of layering contrasting colors and cutting many interesting cuts in the paper. We learned how the kaleidoscope design is a symmetrical design similar to the mandala design. |
