5th graders have been creating abstract art. Abstract art does not show real people, places or things. They created an action painting like Jackson Pollock. Last week they created a hard-edge and soft-edge color field artwork. Color field painting is a style of abstract art that is very simple and does not show movement or action.

4th graders are working on their watercolor landscape. They started adding watercolor paint and are going to continue to more color & detail. This week they will try to add color to the whole landscape and start adding extra detail in the foreground. They are using salt and clear wrap in different places to create texture.
3rd graders finished creating their 3D clay creatures this past week. They added special detail and texture to make their creature unique.
2nd graders finished their creative relief prints using complementary colors. They printed with red on green paper, yellow on purple paper, and blue on orange paper.
1st graders have learned how we can create characters and tell stories with our artwork. They each drew many creative characters and chose the 2 best to draw on bigger paper. Now they are making stories with the characters. We discussed how stories have some kind of action and need a setting, where the story takes place.
1st graders learned about the artist Andy Goldsworthy and how he creates art with nature. They worked as a group to create their own nature artworks. Enjoy!!! |
