1st graders had a special art day where we looked at the artist Andy Goldsworthy. He creates art in nature. Students created their own art design on the floor with materials from nature. It was a really fun art day!

5th graders are learning about abstract art. Abstract art shows little or no reference to real people, places or things. Our first artwork was an action painting. We looked at art by Jackson Pollock as inspiration. Students dripped, splattered and threw paint at their paper. It was such a fun (and messy) day to make art!
4th graders just finished their lanterns representing a story from the Christian Bible. We are excited to try them out with candles next week and see how they light shines through the colored tissue paper.
3rd graders are learning how we can express ourselves in different ways. Students created a warm and cool paper using marbling paint in water. It was really fun to swirl the colors around to make these special papers. Students cut out different facial expressions using warm or cool colored paper. We folded the paper first and then cut it with a scissors and X-acto knife.
2nd graders are working on a unit looking at how different people and cultures use symbols to express themselves. Students drew a page full of symbols to represent themselves. After that, students sketched 2 different designs for the yarn painting combining some of the symbols. Students drew the design on matboard and are adding yarn with glue.
Kindergartners had a blast working with clay today to make their own turkey. We stepped on a clay ball to make some awesome texture for our turkey. Then we added 2 flat circle pieces for the body and head. After that, students added eyes and other fun details on the body. We can't wait to paint them next week! Gobble Gobble!
1st graders have been trying to keep warm in art class with a bunch of blankets! We drew ourselves sleeping in bed with lots of patterned blankets. Students were inspired by Gustav Klimt and his patterned paintings. Can you guess who these sleeping kiddos are?
Kindergartners finished their pumpkins with texture. Look at all the different pumpkins, colors and textures!
