Kindergarten artists finished the puppet unit with a paper bag puppet. Students cut and glued different papers on the paper bag to create a unique puppet character. After the puppet was finished, each student drew a setting for their puppet story to take place. We had fun today working with the puppets and doing voices and actions with them.

st graders have been learning how they can connect art with telling stories. Students created many different character ideas and then chose 2 of the best for their story. Students learned about setting and created a setting for their story. Then students drew the action part of their story using the characters and setting. This week we are coloring the comic stories.
nd graders have been working with fun, expressive color in the past 2 projects. They painted a paper plate with bright and happy colors to create a circle weaving on. For this project, we looked at the artist, Henri Matisse and his room paintings. He would use one main color and have some other accent colors for different objects. Each student drew a favorite room and colored with one main color to show a certain emotion. Here are a few finished student room projects.
rd graders have been working with color and paper to create unique facial expressions. Students learned the warm and cool colors by painting with watercolor. One paper uses warm colors and one paper uses cool colors. They also learned how to use an X-acto knife to cut paper. Here is an example of a warm and cool face and paper design!
th grade artists have been learning how they can express their life, beliefs and values through art. Students created a mandala pie piece with symbols that represent them. They were able to trace and repeat the pie piece around a circle to make the finished mandala. Can you see the symbols that represent these 2 students? Students are now planning and creating a clay relief symbol that represents who they are and what they believe or value. Here are some practice sketches for the final design.
th graders are working with the OP Art style to create unique artwork. Op art focuses on using repeated lines and patterns with contrasting colors. Op art is a type of abstract art. Here is some student work in progress. 5th graders had a good time creating art with food. We looked at different art made from fruit, vegetables, flowers and chocolate! Students created faces, animals, transportation, a landscape and a final tower with the food materials. It was a tasty art class! |
