1st graders just finished their artwork inspired by Gustav Klimt. They first created a background with pattern. After that, each student chose a special person in their life to make for their artwork. They drew and decorated the person with patterns. The pieces were attached and students painted with watercolor paint over the whole artwork.

2nd graders created a monotype print inspired by Piet Mondrian. They used primary colors and painted on glass to make this unique print. They just learned about relief prints and created a drawing on foam to make some relief prints. Here is one student's work.
3rd graders finished their large sandpaper prints using bright, vibrant colors. Check out some of the great work!
4th graders finished glazing their clay relief symbols. Each student chose some different symbols to represent their interests, beliefs and life.
5th graders have finished painting their concentric circles. They attached pieces of random objects to their CD and covered it with tin foil. All is left is some black spray paint, steel wool and hot glue to attach everything together!
5th graders have been creating an artwork inspired by Jasper Johns and Louise Nevelson. They drew and painted concentric circles. After that, each student arranged small pieces of wood, buttons and other objects on a CD. They are creating a low relief similar to what Louise Nevelson does with her relief sculptures using everyday, found objects. When they are finished, they will attach the CD relief at the center of the concentric circles. We discussed 2 principles of design for this project: emphasis and repetition.
4th graders are learning different ways that people represent their beliefs and values. They created Islamic and Christian art. Now they are building clay slab relief showing symbols of things that are important to them and represent themselves.
3rd graders are working with sandpaper to create bright and vibrant colored prints. We are coloring hard on sandpaper and using an iron to melt the color to the paper. Students are really enjoying this process and are making vibrant colored artworks showing a beautiful or enjoyable place. Here is a painting created by Paul Gauguin showing bright colors.
2nd graders are learning what it means to make a 'print' in art. They used kneaded erasers to push into different textures and then stamped them on paper. We will look at the artist Piet Mondrian this week and create a monotype print. (one of a kind print)
1st graders have been working with patterns. They have looked at the artist Gustav Klimt and discussed how he repeats shapes and lines in his artwork to create pattern. They will create their own artwork similar to Gustav Klimt's artwork.
