In computer graphics class, students have been working with the free image editing software Gimp. For this unit we learned how to change words and writing in many ways to create an artwork. Students chose a meaningful image and filled that image with text that relates to it. Here are some of their creative works!

In art foundations class, students got to choose a word that is meaningful or important to them. They designed the letters into creative shapes and used a different art media that they haven't used so far this year.
In 3D art, students finished painting and added special detail and decoration to their plaster guaze masks. It is always fun to see the transformations from their plain white mask into their creative designs! In computer graphics class, we have been practicing and becoming familiar with the image-editing program called GIMP. Students did some practice with a random image and then made themselves into an emoji. This was lots of fun and each student was able to capture his or her personality, interests or physical features in the emoji.
In art foundations class, we are working with the elements of art. We started learning about photograms and how they are made with light and objects on a special paper. We filled the negative space of the drawing with a variety of lines. We did some research on 4 artists: Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger, Mel Bochner and Robert Indiana. Students compared and contrasted these artists who use words to create their artwork. We are making artwork using letters as shapes.
In 3D art class, students have been working with plaster guaze strips to make a creative mask. We looked at masks from different cultures and students designed and planned their own idea for a mask to create. They had fun putting the plaster on each other in class! |
