One of the projects students will work on at the end of the semester is a sculpture that incorporates a game. We will discuss how people are fascinated with all kinds of different games and how we can re-purpose something to make something new. A student finished with some of his work early, so he built this creative Monopoly clock.

In Art Foundations, students have been learning about Georgia O'Keefe and her artwork. We went on a field-trip to Ferguson's Greenhouse in Spirit Lake to take photos of flowers. Students are working on cropping flower image and enlarging a part of it onto watercolor paper. We will be practicing different watercolor techniques to create the painting. Students are focusing on the art element value for this unit. They are trying to show a range of light and dark values when they paint the flower close-up.
The 3D art class has been learning a lot about Jean Dubuffet and his artwork. We watched a few short videos about him and his work. Artist's Studio The Asylum Students are starting to create their own sculpture inspired by Dubuffet's abstract shapes and use of positive & negative space. They will be building their sculptures using foam core.
Here are some drawings that were recently finished in the HS drawing class. One is drawn using different value techniques. The other is drawn using chalk pastels.
