2nd graders are learning about different ways artist make prints. We made a monotype print, which is a one of a kind print. Students painted on glass and then pressed their paper onto their painting and rubbed the paper to make the paint print onto the paper. We looked at the artist Piet Mondrian for inspiration.
3rd graders looked at how some artists use really bright and vibrant colors in their paintings. We looked at the 2 artists Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. Students experimented with sandpaper and crayons to make a print with irons! It was a fun, new day in art class!
5th graders finished their artwork inspired by Jasper Johns and Louise Nevelson. Here are some of them!
5th graders glued small found objects (buttons, small wood pieces..) to their CD to create a relief sculpture. They covered the CD with aluminum foil and pressed gently so that the pieces would show. Their CD got sprayed with black spray paint so that they can rub steel wool over parts of it to make it the silver color again (inspired by Louise Nevelson). They also started painting their concentric circles (inspired by Jasper Johns).
4th grade students have been working on their mosaic the past 2 weeks. We started by looking at some mosaics throughout history. We also looked at some modern mosaics. They found out that a mosaic is a picture made with small materials or pieces. Students made some drawings of picture ideas and then started arranging their pieces on the mat board. Check out the mosaic progress so far.
3rd grade students are cutting creative facial expressions from paper. We created a warm and cool color background for our warm and cool color masks!
2nd graders are learning about different ways they can print to make art. We used a kneaded eraser with stamp pads to practice printing. Then we tried to make a picture using our stamps.
1st graders looked at how they can use pictures to tell stories in books and comics. They created many different characters and chose their favorite for making a picture story. Here are some of the characters so far... |
