In Kindergarten art, we are learning how we can express our stories, ideas and imagination with puppets. Students are making creative puppets and will be doing puppet shows individually and with their classmates.

In 1st grade art, we are connecting art with science. We looked at many images of minibeasts or insects and students choose one to enlarge. Students drew it BIG on the black paper and are coloring and blending with chalk pastels.
2nd graders finished their circle weavings today! They are full of fun, bright colors and patterns. Some of the great things students learned doing this project were: concentric circles, listening and following specific directions, tying knots and weaving! Stop by the elementary to see all the beautiful work in the hallway. Students are enjoying the process of working with sandpaper, crayons and irons to make unique prints. Each student did some practice prints and now they are creating a larger print of a beautiful or enjoyable place.
The 4th graders are combining all they learned from this unit on beliefs and values. They are creating a clay relief slab with symbols that represent who they are. A slab is a flat piece of clay. A relief is a type of sculpture where part of it is raised from a solid background. We looked at money and how coins have symbols that stick out and represent the country. Students sketched & colored some ideas and are now building with the slab with clay.
The 5th graders are still working with abstract art. They had a lot of fun learning how to stitch with yarn to make radiating lines, rotating squares, a spectrum design or any other stitched design they could come up with. Here are some examples of different stitching designs on the painted cardboard. |
