Here are a few of the drawing projects in the Independent Study class. One student is working with different value techniques. Another student is working with chalk pastels to draw a landscape.
We have been focusing on the element FORM for this clay project. Form means that something is 3D, takes up space and has volume. Students created their own creative 3D monster using clay. We joined 2 pinch pots together to make an egg shape for the head and body. Students added all kinds of other features, detail and texture to make their monster unique.
The 3D art students have been working with clay for the past month or more. Our 1st project was building a clay cookie jar. Each student created a different design that reflected their interests or life. Today in art class, we tested the cookie jar to make sure it could hold a box of cookies. We definitely succeeded! Most of the cookie jars could hold 2-3 boxes of cookies.
The high school 3D art class has been working on the potter's wheel to make pottery. They have made vases, bowls, mugs and cylinders. It has been a learning process and all students have really improved at making pottery using the wheel.
High school students have created their own Cubist inspired painting. They each chose a sea or air creature as the subject matter. They are painting using a chosen color scheme & gradations. Here are the works in progress.
