In Drawing 2, we are working with lots of different art media. For the project below, the student used chalk pastel to make an interesting look for the background or negative space. We looked at the artist Jim Dine for inspiration with his use of simple personal objects and interesting color in the negative spaces. This next project had a focus no the contrast of celebrities and fame in modern society with medieval society. The material used is a clear scratch film. One half of the picture uses a modified image from a face card and the other half is a portrait of a modern celebrity. The student had to focus on the balance of dark and light as well as only scratching the areas that needed to be white. Can you tell which face card royalty and modern celebrity she chose?
