We worked on drawing faces and portraits to create a unique self-portrait. Students researched traditional clothing from many different cultures. We had a guest speaker, Lydia, visit us and speak about the traditional clothing and culture of the Congo, Africa. Each student chose traditional clothing to add to their portrait to make it creative and unique. Enjoy these beautiful portraits!

We did a lot of practice with chalk and oil pastel before students decided what subject matter and art medium to use for this drawing. Students usually find that chalk pastel works easier to blend colors and give them the style they want. Here are the finished drawings! The art foundations class finished the clay monsters by painting glaze on them in creative ways. We had some special crystallex glazes where the crystals melted and added color in different places.
