Kinder Art: Watch this video of a silly monster ABC book I read. Create a silly, scary, or cute monster with the letter of your name. An example for me would be Prevot's Prickly Pumpkin. I would make a monster carving a prickly pumpkin. All of the words start with P for Prevot. You could use your first name or last name. I can't wait to see your monster!
st Art: Listen to this book, Chicks Run Wild. Do you see how the chicks are in clothes? Draw your favorite animals with clothes! What clothing would a cat wear? A dog? A horse? A pig? Have fun!
nd Art: Listen to the book, The Sound of Colors. The girl in this book cannot see and is imagining amazing places at the subway station. Imagine a new place that you could create to come out of the subway. Draw and color you place. Use any art materials you have!
rd Art: This week we are learning about Adrinka printing from Ghana, Africa. This is a type of printing on cloth with symbols. You can just print on paper, unless you have some cloth you want to try. There are different ways to make stamps. You can make them from cardboard or foam, or you can make them with potatoes. Make sure you work with a parent if you are using a sharp knife to cut on the potato. You can also use a fork to make the lines for the Adrinka printing design.
th Art: This week we will try painting with different materials. Sometimes, you don't have paint around, but your parents probably have coffee or spices, and we all have dirt to make mud! Let's try painting with something new! Watch these 3 videos to see how you can paint with coffee, spices, and mud. You can create any type of painting you want this week, but if you would like to try an Asian landscape with coffee and spices, give it a try. Below is some information about Asian landscapes.
th Art: This week create a self-portrait with materials or objects that represent you. Think about what you love...hobbies...interests...favorite subjects or activities. Make your portrait with these different materials like the artist Vik Muniz. He creates art with chocolate, wire, string and sugar!
