1st Art: Work with materials from the past. Use sticks and/or fingers to paint on paper or use chalk paint with sticks or fingers on the sidewalk or cement. Homemade chalk paint
2nd Art: Investigate the artist Wassily Kandkinsky using this video and document. Listen to classical music and paint how you hear the music! You can use tempera, acrylic or watercolor paint. If you don't have paint, make your own paint with 15 different ideas here: https://happyhooligans.ca/homemade-paint-kids/
3rd Art: Experiment with bubbles and straws on paper. We will make a special artwork with this next week. Just have fun and experiment this week! Here is one video with the bubbles. You will need a cup, water, dish soap, food coloring, and a straw. The Bubble art is at 20:15 on the video.
Another fun thing to try is watercolor paint (or water with food coloring) and using a straw to blow the paint around on the paper.
4th Art: We were going to be creating clay elephants, but that will have to wait until May. Learn about a landscape and the parts of a landscape from this slideshow.
Look at an image of a landscape and point out the foreground, middle ground and background. Draw a simple landscape of your own with a foreground, middle ground and background.
5th Art: Draw your self-portrait (a picture of your face). Look in a mirror or draw from memory. This is a practice drawing and we will compare it to a drawing you do later. Your drawing might look awesome or terrible. That's okay. We will learn how to draw the face next week.
Use the document below to think about who you are.
Look at some examples of famous artist self-portraits below. Later, we will be creating a self-portrait that describes something about who you are.
