Here are some new activities for K-5. I have the same activity for Kindergarten and 1st grade this week. Have a wonderful week making art! You can do any or all of these artworks.

3rd Art: Mola design with colored felt or paper
4th Art: Claire West inspired landscape

Kinder & 1st Art: Listen to my reading of the book, They All Saw a Cat, by Brendan Wenzel. Create your own artwork of how you see a cat. Maybe you have a pet cat that you can draw and color! You can use any art materials you have at home to make your artwork. The worksheet and video below can help you do the cat artwork step by step.
Below is the cat that I started to show you how you can do it! Have fun!
2nd Art: Watch this video to learn about the artist Henri Matisse. Look through the slideshow to see some of his and Vincent Van Gogh's room artwork. Draw a favorite room in your home. Color with any emotional colors! What main color would you color that room if you could?
3rd Art: Another group of people we are learning about is the Kuna Indians of Central America. We are going to create our own mola design inspired by their cloth mola art.
Draw your own animal design on colored construction paper or colored felt. Cut it out and then layer other shapes on top of it. Glue the whole thing on another contrasting color.
Below is the example I made with my daughter. We used felt, scissors and white Elmer's glue to make a rainbow fish!
4th Art: One contemporary landscape artist is Claire West. She paints with lots of color to create her landscapes. Check out this video to help you make a Claire West landscape. You need chalk, liquid starch, and paint to make this landscape. If you don't have those materials, make your own colorful landscape with whatever materials you have at home!
5th Art: We are continuing with portraits this week. Check out this video to see a new way we will be making a portrait!
Create some portraits using objects! Who do you want to make? Your favorite teacher? Your mom or dad? Grandpa or Grandma? Sibling or best friend? Try a few different portraits with objects that would describe that person. Have fun! I can't wait to see your work!
