The 7th graders got to investigate the art and life of Romero Britto. He is a Brazilian born artist who works in Miami. He has been working at creating art since he was a young boy painting on scraps of cardboard. He now has art in over 100 countries and his own shop with many fun products. Click on this website to find out more about Britto. Students drew their own idea using an object or subject matter that is meaningful to them. We painted in his style by using bright colors, patterns, bold outlines, flat color and broken shapes.

7th graders have been looking at how popular culture influences us. We looked at the style of art called Pop Art, which focuses on popular and everyday things. Some famous pop artists were Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. We also looked at ancient Egyptian canopic jars. These jars were used to store organs during the mummification process. Students made their own canopic jar from clay and added a 3D sculpture of something popular to them or an everyday object. They are in the process of drying now.
