Students drew their own idea using an object or subject matter that is meaningful to them. We painted in his style by using bright colors, patterns, bold outlines, flat color and broken shapes.
7th graders have been looking at how popular culture influences us. We looked at the style of art called Pop Art, which focuses on popular and everyday things. Some famous pop artists were Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.
We also looked at ancient Egyptian canopic jars. These jars were used to store organs during the mummification process.
Students made their own canopic jar from clay and added a 3D sculpture of something popular to them or an everyday object. They are in the process of drying now.
