The 8th graders finished their surrealist drawings with chalk and colored pencils. They needed to use 2 or more ordinary objects in mysterious ways in their artwork.

8th graders have been working on creating their own surrealist artwork using ordinary objects we practiced drawing. Here are some works in progress.
The 6th graders have done awesome work cutting out many, many dots to cover their silhouette pose. Each student chose a pose that represented who they are and what they like. 8th graders are looking at Surrealist artwork, which started in the 20th century and focused on the unconscious mind or dreams. Many artists painted strange and mysterious combinations of objects, people or places. Here are some examples of surrealist work. Some of the most well-known artists are Rene Magritte and Salvador Dali.
6th graders have learned about the artwork of Yayoi Kusama and how she covers everything with dots! You can click on this link to see more about her work. They will be creating their own artwork with dots this week. Here is some of Kusama's artwork.
