For this first project, we are using Yayoi Kusama's artwork as inspiration and are creating a silhouette with dots that expresses something important about who we are. Here are some student examples from last year. We are still cutting out dots and gluing them on the silhouette.
6th graders have looked at artwork by a Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama. They have discussed a basic definition of art: a way of creative expression. We also discussed different reasons we create art: Personal Expression, Religion or Beliefs, Social/Political, and to Use.
