HS artists had a 'sweet' time working with candy. We practiced drawing many different pieces of candy and then chose one to crop and enlarge. Students worked on making the candy shape and writing in the unique way that it is designed on the candy piece. We worked on covering the area evenly with color and painting neatly within the drawing.

Students in art foundations have been working with the principles of design. Our first principle was balance, which means the visual weight of objects or images looks even or equal. Students created brayer paintings with symmetrical balance first. Then we drew a large water reflection picture and colored it with chalk pastel to show balance. HS drawings students have worked on drawing objects to make them with correct proportion using contour lines. Students focused on the important outer and inner lines to make their drawing. Then, each student chose a creative way to fill in the negative space around the objects. Can you guess their themes?
HS students each made their own creative color wheel inspired by an object from popular or consumer culture. Students learned how to mix all the primary colors to make each of the other colors. |
