2nd graders have been looking at 2 different artists who are inspired by music when making their artwork. We looked at Wassily Kandinsky and Stuart Davis. Kandinsky was inspired by classical music and Stuart Davis by jazz music. Both of these artists lived during different time periods when this music was popular. Here is some work by both artists. Students painted while listening to classical music and cut shapes to create many overlapping colors and shapes while listening to jazz music.
